Building Trust Through Connection: EmVenio at the Atlanta Black Expo

At the end of February, our team had the privilege of participating at the Atlanta Black Expo – a vibrant celebration of Black entrepreneurship, community leadership, and wellness. For EmVenio, it was more than an event. It was an opportunity to build meaningful, long-term relationships with the communities we serve.

Strengthening Community Partnerships

One of the strongest takeaways from the day was the value of consistent, trusted partnerships. Events like the Atlanta Black Expo help us meet people where they are, listen to their needs, and collaborate with local organizations that share our commitment to expanding access to health services.

We also heard a clear message from attendees:

People want to be informed – but many don’t know where to begin, especially when it comes to clinical research.

The hesitancy we encountered wasn’t rooted in disinterest - it was rooted in uncertainty. And that's exactly where our work begins. By showing up, answering questions, and creating a warm, welcoming environment, we help break down barriers and make clinical trials more understandable and approachable.

These moments of conversation matter. They help us build a patient database of individuals who want to stay connected, whether for health screenings, educational resources, or opportunities to participate in current and future studies.

On-Site Screenings: Meeting the Community with Care

Throughout the day, our clinical team provided more than 100 onsite health screenings, including:

  • FibroScans for liver health
  • A1C testing to support diabetes awareness
  • Blood pressure checks to promote everyday health monitoring

These screenings weren’t just tests – they were conversations. Each interaction opened the door for education, early detection, and connection. Our team was fully engaged on the ground, greeting attendees, sharing health insights, and ensuring everyone felt comfortable, supported, and empowered.

A Community That Inspires Us

The positivity, curiosity, and openness we experienced reminded us why we do this work. Expanding access to clinical research isn’t only about enrolling patients - it’s about building trust, promoting educating, and showing up consistently in communities.

We left the Atlanta Black Expo inspired, energized, and even more committed to deepening our presence in communities where awareness, access, and representation matter most.

EmVenio currently operates two active research sites in Atlanta. If you'd like to learn more about how community‑based models expand access to research, please contact us, we’d love to connect with you.
